Investing in college: Affordable options for preparing for debt

When in Boston recently for a conference, I met a fellow educational consultant from China. Hearing I was from Kentucky, he asked, “Tuition is very reasonable at Kentucky, yes?”
I paused before answering. Through the eyes of his clients, tuition at the University of Kentucky seems a comparative bargain, yet the first priorities of a public institution should be affordability and excellence for its state’s residents.

BCTC works to serve higher education needs of local students and companies

Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC), the workhorse of our regional higher education system, is the product of a merger in 2005 between Lexington Community College and Central Kentucky Technical College. When Augusta A. Julian became president in 2007, the newly merged institution was still finding its way.

Spanish Immersion at Georgetown College gives students a leg up in global market

NACAC Commission on International Recruitment

Yesterday’s hearing was a fascinating experience, underscoring the complexity and seriousness of the issue of incentive-based compensation in international recruitment. NACAC’s executive director, Joyce Smith, watched the proceedings unfold from a seat toward the back of the gallery and remarked to me that this was what NACAC was all about: members hearing other members, and developing policies in a thoughtful manner.
