Academic Common Market helps with college costs

Students limiting their college searches by cost may want to know about the Academic Common Market (ACM), which allows Kentucky residents to pay in-state tuition rates to study in certain programs in other Southeastern states.

Coordinated by the Southern Regional Education Board, the ACM includes programs in states throughout the Southeast with the exception of North Carolina, which is phasing out its participation. Kentucky has participated since the early 1970s, initially for graduate studies only.

University ‘delisted’ from U.S. News rankings

Last month, higher education headlines blared about George Washington University’s inflation of class-rank data for entering freshmen, one factor in U.S. News & World Report’s calculation of college rankings. GWU, which had been ranked 51st nationally and perceived broadly as having been on a multi-year ascent, found itself pulled from this year’s U.S. News rankings altogether.

Fayette students see new college opportunities

Centre preps for second VP debate

Despite tripled hosting fee, college says national exposure is worth it

On Oct. 11, Vice President Joe Biden and challenger Paul Ryan will be at Centre College in Danville, Ky., for a debate that will be moderated by ABC’s Martha Raddatz and broadcast around the world. This is the sole event for the candidates for vice president, sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates, and it is Centre College’s second time hosting such a debate.
